After nearly 4 months out, the gap widens between the two biggest competitors being the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 has sold 6.1 million and the Xbox One sold 3.7 million. These are the hardware sales numbers up until March 8, 2014 and were given by vgchartz.com. The PlayStation 4 has a big lead and could have have a much bigger than 2:1 lead over the Xbox One if it was not for the shortage that Sony is facing with the consoles which makes sense because it is one of the hottest items of the year.
The PlayStation 4 is on its way to 10 million by summer time and has even passed the Nintendo Wii U in all time sales. Sony may have the leading number of sales but it is still losing in terms of revenue dollars compared to Microsoft, mainly due to the difference of price between the consoles, which should soon be a non factor because both consoles are going to be sold at the $400 mark.
