This NBA off season has been filled with a lot of trades, signings, and surprises. First it was LeBron James to the Lakers. Then we had Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors. And to top it off we now have DeMarcus Cousins on the Warriors. Today’s news adds to the list with Carmelo Anthony now signing with the Rockets for a 1 year, 2.4 million dollar contract.
The former Oklahoma City Thunder forward was recently traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then waived. This decision was to allow Carmelo Anthony the opportunity to pick a team of his choice. There was talk that the Miami Heat was an option, but best decision was to join with the Rockets.
This makes the most sense as the Rockets are the only team that can compete with a healthy Warriors team. The Thunder had too many issues and did not use Carmelo the way he wanted to be used. Joining the Rockets, his catch and shooting abilities will be utilized.
The 34 year old clearly wants to win, and this may be his best shot yet. The move will now have Chris Paul, James Harden, and Carmelo Anthony filling out the back court.
